An epidemic of bedbugs in the Big Apple has brought panic, revulsion and a nasty little rash to rich and poor alike.
Bed bugs were found in public transportation, City Hall, stores of Abercrombie & Fitch and Victoria Secret. Most hotels are affected and have now to deal with huge costs.
What are bed bugs?
Bed bugs are small insects that feed on human blood. They are usually active at night when people are sleeping. Adult bed bugs have flat, rusty-red-colored oval bodies. About the size of an apple seed, they are big enough to be easily seen, but often hide in cracks in furniture, floors, or walls.
Bed bugs are the most costly pests for the hospitality industry. Awareness, early detection and inspections are the key to keep costs under control.
